About The Position

Requirements

• Generally, 3 or more years of experience in a related field preferred.
• Computer literacy, including familiarity with weather and newsroom computer systems.
• Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment.
• Knowledge of editing systems.
• Strong broadcast and AP-style writing skills.
• Proficiency posting content to various websites.
• Self-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to provide proof of insurance meeting the company's required insurance limits.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology preferred.
• Generally, 3 or more years of experience in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver daily weathercasts using available weather data and graphics computers.
• Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates, interrupting regular programming when necessary.
• Prepare and deliver weathercast materials across multiple media, including television, radio and the internet.
• Assist management in evaluating potential new weather data-gathering and presentation computers.
• Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
• Report live from event sites or a mobile broadcast unit.
• May write and produce news and weather stories for multiple media platforms.
• May report, write, capture visual content, edit and produce deadline-driven stories for internet and digital channels.
• Work cooperatively with an assigned photographer when applicable.
• Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation and research.
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
