About The Position

WTVC is seeking a Meteorologist to present weather forecasts during its daily 4½-hour news broadcast. The Meteorologist is responsible for weather content on the station’s digital and linear platforms. The role includes forecasting, producing, and presenting weathercasts that are clear, concise, tell a story, and connect with viewers. The Meteorologist also issues warnings and alerts, produces graphics and maps, reports live during weather events, uses social media throughout the day and during severe weather, writes weather stories, and makes public appearances on behalf of the station. The Meteorologist works with producers to determine relevant weather content for breaking-news and everyday situations.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of forecasting.
• Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks.
• Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in weather presentation and reporting is preferred.
