About The Position

The Maintenance Worker performs regular preventive maintenance on large industrial textile-processing equipment and maintains the facility. The role assists the Maintenance Technician and/or Chief Engineer as required and reports to the Chief Engineer. The worker follows instructions and established guidelines, uses limited experience and judgment to accomplish assigned goals, and assists with resolving problems to minimize equipment downtime. The position also supports continuous improvement, cooperates with plant personnel, and follows applicable safety rules, policies, procedures, and laws. Other duties may include supporting branch personnel and driving to procure or transport parts and equipment. The work takes place inside and outside a typical industrial laundry facility, including around large machinery and in areas with varying temperatures, noise, odors, humidity, lint, and dust. Occasional travel, such as to procure parts, may be required. Physical activities include standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, kneeling, working in confined areas, operating a forklift, moving equipment, pushing and pulling loaded carts, and lifting and carrying items.

Requirements

  • Maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record free of chargeable accidents, speeding, or other safety violations.
  • Demonstrate adequate mechanical aptitude.
  • Be proficient in the proper use of power and hand tools.
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Be able to comprehend and follow directions and perform basic math.
  • Have good time-management and teamwork skills.
  • Be a team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work, and be self-motivated and dedicated to continual quality improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance, including monitoring oil levels and maintaining grease fittings, lint traps, and shaker screen barrels.
  • Perform limited electrical troubleshooting.
  • Assist in resolving problems to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Look for opportunities to improve maintenance processes.
  • Work cooperatively and professionally with plant personnel.
  • Follow safety rules, company policies and procedures, industry practices, and applicable laws.
  • Perform work safely and efficiently; follow written and verbal instructions and other directions from supervision.
  • Support other branch personnel as directed.
  • Drive to procure parts and transport equipment or parts.
