About The Position

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check if new to the Department of the Navy.
• Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance before entering on duty.
• Must wear required personal protective equipment continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Must participate in medical surveillance programs.
• Must be able to travel from the normal duty station to locations in the continental United States and overseas, potentially including remote or isolated sites, and travel on military or commercial aircraft for extended periods.
• Must demonstrate knowledge and skill sufficient to perform the duties at the level applied for; applicants must meet the applicable OPM qualification requirements for Trades and Labor Occupations.
• Must receive at least two points on the Ability To Lead Or Supervise screen-out element to be eligible.
• Must be able to direct assigned work operations, review and assist with subordinate training, correct unsafe working conditions, initiate recommendations for subordinate promotions or reassignments, and consult with design representatives on technical details.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Responsibilities

• Fully support the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program.
• Supervise assembly of finished parts and repair and refitting of shipboard components.
• Consult with engineers, shop planners, schedulers, planners, and estimators on technical problems to avoid delays and meet schedules.
• Ensure efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments through subordinates within schedules set by higher-level supervision.
• Direct assigned work operations within management policies, production schedules, and oral and written instructions.
• Review and assist with on-the-job training for subordinates and supplement training programs as needed.
• Take corrective action on unsafe working conditions in the supervised area.
• Initiate recommendations for promotions or reassignments of subordinates.
• Consult with design representatives regarding technical details.
