About The Position

Klamath Community College’s Global Languages and Learning Department promotes language acquisition, cross-cultural competence, and lifelong learning through accessible, community-centered education. We are seeking an Outreach Specialist who enjoys building relationships, engaging diverse communities, and helping students connect to meaningful learning opportunities. This is a highly interactive, community-facing role where you will serve as a primary representative of GLL, building trust, increasing program visibility, and supporting students as they access language education and career-enhancing services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and personable.
  • Culturally competent and able to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a team setting.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds for event setup, including outreach materials and equipment.
  • Travel to off-campus outreach locations is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in outreach, marketing, education, or communications preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish or another language relevant to program populations).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements outreach initiatives to promote Global Languages and Learning programs.
  • Engages in community engagement, event coordination, public speaking, and administrative support.
  • Sets outreach goals and develops strategies to connect with multilingual and multicultural populations.
  • Initiates outreach campaigns via phone, email, and social media.
  • Prepares materials and organizes recruitment and informational events.
  • Serves as the “Face of KCC Global Languages and Learning” during public engagements.
  • Handles walk-in and digital inquiries from prospective students.
  • Schedules and administers intake interviews and orientations for new students.
  • Maintains accurate records and tracking systems for prospective and enrolled students.
  • Creates and periodically evaluates strategic outreach and recruitment plans.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with local agencies, community groups, and educational institutions to promote departmental programs.
  • Coordinates remote and community-based outreach events, including bringing in guest speakers and partner organizations to share resources with students.
  • Identifies and participates in opportunities to distribute outreach materials, attend cultural events, and collaborate with other organizations.
  • Inputs student data into college systems and other digital tracking platforms.
  • Responds to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person in a professional, helpful, and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Represents KCC in a culturally responsive and bilingual capacity, fostering trust and engagement with students, families, and partners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Drives at night.
  • Works occasional evenings and weekends for community and campus events.
