About The Position

Bring your creativity, technical expertise, and passion for landscape architecture to a team shaping communities across Alberta and Western Canada. Based in our Calgary office, you will play a key role in delivering innovative landscape architecture and urban design projects while helping grow a thriving practice that values collaboration, community impact, and design excellence. As an Intermediate Landscape Architect / Designer, you will contribute to projects from concept through construction, supporting both project delivery and business development initiatives. Working alongside multidisciplinary professionals, you will help create environmentally responsible and socially conscious design solutions for public, private, and institutional clients. Our work spans urban revitalization, master planning, regional parks, public spaces, plazas, complete streets, multi-use trails, transit facilities, infrastructure, commercial developments, institutional campuses, land development, and ecologically based landscapes. You'll also collaborate with Landscape Architecture teams across Calgary, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, and Winnipeg to support projects throughout Western Canada.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of professional experience working in Landscape Architecture.
  • Full Member in Good Standing with the AALA is considered an asset (or similar related design education).
  • Strong technical proficiency with core design and administrative software including CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and related platforms.
  • Experience performing field reviews and observing projects during construction.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing proposals and supporting business development activities.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and sound financial acumen.
  • Strong understanding of design development, construction documentation, site grading, planting design, detailing, and contract administration.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple disciplines.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

  • ISA Certification.
  • Ability to develop business opportunities within Calgary and surrounding municipalities and client sectors throughout Alberta.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, SketchUp, Lumion, Revit, Rhino, and GIS.
  • Additional credentials in Accessible Design, Environmental Stewardship, or related disciplines.
  • Fluency in a second language (French preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to landscape architecture and urban design projects from concept development through contract administration.
  • Develop creative, environmentally responsible, and technically sound design solutions that enhance communities and public spaces.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes across a diverse range of project types and scales.
  • Support proposal development, client pursuits, and business development initiatives that help grow the practice.
  • Lead portions of project delivery while mentoring and supporting early-career professionals.
  • Prepare and coordinate design documentation, including site design, grading, planting plans, detailing, and construction packages.
  • Engage professionally with clients, stakeholders, and members of the public to build strong working relationships.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and design excellence across Western Canada.
