About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced on-site Construction Inspector to support County of Maui, State of Hawaii, and Federal projects and programs. The role involves inspecting contractor's work to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications, tracking site progress against schedules, and maintaining comprehensive project records. The Construction Inspector will serve as a technical expert in field inspections and audits, particularly for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems. This position also acts as a key point of contact for high-profile engagements and contributes to strategic decision-making, providing guiding direction for inspections and setting goals for inspection teams.

Requirements

  • HS plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Due to the nature of the project, US Citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in facilities maintenance and facilities management.
  • Able to obtain Hawaii Department of Transportation – Materials, Testing, and Research Branch (MTRB) Field Sampling and Testing Qualification Certification
  • Able to obtain OSHA 30 Certification
  • Experience using Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Inspection of Contractor’s Work. Provide inspection of work in place, and review of the construction documentation, to provide an opinion or recommendation as to whether work is in full compliance with the contract plans and specifications.
  • Provide inspection on-site to provide an opinion or recommendation to the appropriate team as to whether they are in full compliance with contract plans, specifications, and requirements.
  • Site Progress Tracking. Review project schedule, check field progress against the schedule, and report any delays from the approved baseline. Provide site progress on schedule activities to Project Manager, Project Controls Manager, and Scheduler for updates.
  • Attend preparatory meetings and participate in the inspection process required under the contract.
  • Establishes and maintains comprehensive project records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of all documentation.
  • Serves as technical expert in field inspections and audits, recognized as the 'go-to' expert internally and externally for complex technical issues. Specifically for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning
  • Serves as key point of contact for high-profile engagements and member of AECOM senior leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making.
  • Provides guiding direction for inspections on all assignments, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards across projects.
  • Sets direction and goals for inspection teams, aligning with overall project objectives and organizational strategies.
