About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Associate Degree
• at least 1 year experience in the laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and organizing of assigned stations as needed.
• Embedding, microtomy and delivery of certain specimens as needed.
• Assist with the monitoring, documentation, set up and maintenance of histology’s instrumentation.
• Accurately follow established histology protocols.
• Assist with special stains as assigned.
• Assist with slide/block filing, sorting, sendouts, returns, retrievals (warehouse) and disposal.
• Assisting front office with resulting cases as needed.
• Assisting cytology with walking in pap specimens as needed.
• Answer telephones and communicate with surrounding departments.
• Communicate problems and information to appropriate leads or management.
• Order & restock supplies as assigned, assist leads with item sweep checks.
• Demonstrates correct safety practices as defined in established protocols.
• Handles patient specimens, hazardous chemicals & waste, according to policy.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
