About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience securing and managing federal grants.
• Demonstrated success writing and developing complex grant proposals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating presentations and reports for diverse audiences.
• Enthusiasm for engaging with new technology and digital tools, including generative and agentic AI.
• Strong understanding of the federal funding landscape and experience with agencies such as NSF, NIH, DOE, or DOD.
• Sound understanding of project management principles and excellent project management skills, including experience handling multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in a related field.
• Experience with generative AI tools for information synthesis and analysis.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or certification in grant writing, nonprofit management, or a related field.
• Experience with SUNY or similar public education systems or large networks of organizations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and strategically target large-scale grant opportunities from federal agencies, foundations, and corporations, with a focus on center-scale grants in STRIVE priority areas.
• Identify emerging funding trends and align them with SUNY's research strengths and strategic initiatives.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes, and provide regular analysis to stakeholders.
• Analyze and report on SUNY research programs and initiatives, working with the GROW unit to match them to federal and state priorities and position the system for funding opportunities.
• Increase communication within SUNY by creating presentations, contributing to newsletters, and developing content to promote research and workforce development projects.
• Disseminate information about funding opportunities through webinars, convenings, and targeted communications to researchers and campus leaders.
• Lead the collaborative development and writing of complex grant proposals for SUNY-wide, statewide, and regional initiatives, working with campus counterparts and contractors as needed.
• Guide faculty researchers and campus leaders in developing content for major grant applications, interpreting complex federal requirements, and advocating for their needs.
• Use generative AI tools, including CoPilot, Gemini Enterprise, and Notebook LM, in compliance with SUNY policies to improve project management and understanding of opportunities and partnership possibilities.
