About The Position

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Males must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
• Must meet the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C quality-level experience requirements for the WG-4300 Pliable Materials Family.
• Must meet the screen-out element: ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
• Qualifications are evaluated on knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, and repair; technical practices; use of measuring instruments; interpretation of instructions and specifications, including blueprint reading; use and maintenance of tools and equipment; and knowledge of materials.
• A pre-employment physical examination is required.
• Must be able to perform physical duties including standing, bending, stooping, stretching, and working in strained or cramped conditions; frequently handle, lift, and carry items up to 25 pounds; and occasionally move heavier items with mechanical or human assistance.
• Must wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and other required personal protective equipment.
• Must be granted and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position.
• Must use direct deposit as a federal employee.
• Position may require travel and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Inspect composite or plastic parts, assemblies, subassemblies, and structures that have been repaired, modified, or overhauled.
• Inspect equipment and aircraft surfaces after work has been completed for damage, integrity, deviations, and other out-of-tolerance conditions affecting LO coatings and related components.
• Conduct and witness inspections and tests of fabrication and repair work on structural and nonstructural airframe components, equipment, and completed airframes affecting LO coatings and related components.
• Follow established safety practices and procedures and maintain a safe, clean work area.
• Wear required safety glasses, hearing protection, and other personal protective equipment when performing duties.
