About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Three to five years of experience designing exercise and fitness programs.
• One to three years of medical experience.
• Ability to take vital signs and assess abnormal results.
• Ability to identify abnormal rhythms on EKG/telemetry.
• Ability to perform the clinic-specific skills required for the patient population served and comply with applicable NMC and state licensure regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct exercise progression for patients in all phases of the Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.
• Prescribe, implement, and evaluate individual patient activity and exercise levels in coordination with program directors and staff.
• Share responsibility for patient and family education.
• Interpret exercise tolerance tests and formulate exercise prescriptions.
• Provide coverage for open gym, cardiac rehabilitation, and outpatient rehabilitation patients.
• Schedule appointments, manage charts, organize patient flow, and confirm schedules.
• Collect and exchange appropriate patient information and schedule appointments in accordance with insurance and regulatory requirements.
• Use computer systems accurately for registration, order review, and related tasks.
• Communicate with patients, team members, and management accurately and promptly; report pertinent information and complete timely clinical documentation and order entry.
• Protect the confidentiality of patients and colleagues.
• Manage resources, equipment, and supplies appropriately; maintain a clean, orderly care environment; and seek feedback and learning resources as needed.
• Perform pre-visit planning, interviews, processes, and evaluations to obtain and share accurate patient information.
• Perform duties required for compliance with ACO, PCMH, and other regulatory or certification requirements.
• Assist patients with ambulation and exercise progression, and instruct them in proper form and technique.
• Provide information from providers to patients and use critical thinking to consider alternatives.
• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure patient rooms and instruments are cleaned before each patient visit to maintain infection-control standards.
• Obtain patient vital signs and provide appropriate medical supervision to open gym patients.
• Demonstrate clinic-specific skills and treat appropriate outpatients in accordance with NMC and state licensure regulations.
