About The Position

Requirements

• High school degree.
• Multiple years of construction and/or skilled labor abilities, and good communication skills.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) w/ A, B, C, & N Endorsements.
• MSHA certifications.
• Able to fulfill physical demands, sensory demands (seeing and hearing) and cognitive demands (concentration, conceptualization, memorization) of the job.
• Ability to understand and follow directions for general work assignments.
• Read, write and perform simple arithmetic.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Fills cracks, seals chips, mows ditches, paints stripes, installs and repairs road sign, picks up debris, repairs beam guards/cable guards, ditching, repairs gravel shoulders, removes/cuts trees, and maintains/repairs concrete and asphalt roads and bridges.
• Operates asphalt plant, asphalt road paving, operates gravel pit with crushing equipment, replaces culverts, and plans/parks projects (masonry, carpentry, and excavation/grading).
• Operates snowplow/salters, plow controllers, salt brine making/hauling, and installs/removes snow fences.
• Performs simple, mechanical maintenance activities on Highway Department equipment including, but not limited to, tri-axle trucks, 5-yard trucks, loaders, backhoes, rollers, mowers, and/or skid steers, and ensure clean, proper operations. Additionally, maintenance, parts ordering and repairs required for Asphalt Plant & Gravel Pit Crusher operations.
• Cleans lunchroom/bathrooms, and grounds maintenance.
