About The Position

This role operates under the direction of a Property Maintenance General Foreman within the General Services Division. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of journeyman-level craft workers, including Plumbers, Electricians, Painters, AC and Refrigeration Technicians, Roofers, and Carpenters. Key duties involve evaluating project requirements, assigning tasks, ensuring compliance with Shelby County Code Enforcement and OSHA guidelines, and coordinating maintenance schedules. The supervisor also determines necessary equipment and materials, orders supplies, and maintains records for work orders and billing. Additionally, they are responsible for establishing preventive maintenance programs for City facilities, attending meetings, conducting site inspections, and managing the Emergency Preparedness Plan, including training personnel. This position also serves as a liaison between City divisions and external agencies.

Requirements

  • Supervision of journeyman level craft workers
  • Knowledge of Shelby County Code Enforcement and OSHA guidelines
  • Ability to coordinate maintenance schedules

  • Record keeping for work orders and billing
  • Experience in establishing preventive maintenance programs

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a specific group of journeyman level craft workers (Plumbers, Electricians, Painters, AC, Refrigeration Technicians, Roofers, and Carpenters)
  • Evaluates projects to determine requirements and assigns workers as needed
  • Ensures work is performed according to guidelines required by Shelby County Code Enforcement and OSHA
  • Coordinates schedule for maintenance work
  • Determines the type of equipment and material needed for projects/jobs and orders the materials
  • Maintains records of work orders and account receivables for billing purposes
  • Establishes preventive maintenance program for City facilities
  • Attends various meetings and work sites across the City for visual inspections of construction/maintenance sites
  • Maintains the Emergency Preparedness Plan for disaster situations which includes updating the plan and procedures and training personnel
  • Acts as a liaison between City divisions and outside Shelby County, State, and Federal agencies for City functions
