About The Position

Battelle is seeking a skilled Senior Electrician to service, maintain, repair, test, adjust, install, and operate electrical systems and equipment at the journeyman level. In this role, you will support critical infrastructure including electrical distribution systems, control systems, UPS and emergency power systems, laboratory systems, and alarm systems. You will work independently or under general supervision while helping ensure safe, reliable operations in a complex laboratory and facilities environment, including work involving up to medium-voltage circuits.

Requirements

  • Journeyman-level electrician experience, including work with up to medium-voltage distribution switching and related electrical systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience working on equipment and systems in a regulation-driven environment.
  • Experience directing or coordinating the work of assigned personnel, contractors, or other trades.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, codes, safe work practices, and procedures related to critical systems.
  • Experience using computers and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with CMMS or similar systems used to track maintenance activities and system status.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and follow-through skills, with the ability to work productively with limited supervision.
  • Ability to perform physical work such as lifting, climbing ladders, maintaining balance, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and working in spaces that require close visual attention and accurate wire or equipment handling.
  • Willingness to work indoors or outdoors and respond to after-hours needs, including weekends or emergency situations when required.
  • Ability to meet site-specific requirements, which may include specialized safety training, licensing or certification, respirator use, work in regulated laboratory environments, vaccinations, or government security clearance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional training, licensing, or certification related to fire alarm systems, security systems, emergency power systems, building automation systems, variable frequency drives, laboratory systems, or HVAC systems.
  • Experience supporting critical infrastructure in laboratory, industrial, research, healthcare, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Experience reading and updating blueprints, schematics, and control system diagrams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, technical development, and maintaining craft certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of critical electrical distribution and control systems.
  • Plan, inspect, document, and support installation and maintenance activities for assigned site-critical systems.
  • Establish and support testing programs, monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Help ensure systems and documentation comply with applicable safety standards, UL requirements, and state, local, client, and government regulations.
  • Maintain system files, drawings, schematics, alarm and control diagrams, and inspection or performance reports.
  • Coordinate with engineering, HVAC, security operations, facilities staff, and contractors to complete installation and maintenance work efficiently and safely.
  • Develop work procedures, support hazard analyses, prepare repair requirements, and assist with ordering parts and maintaining spare parts inventory.
  • Use CMMS tools to support preventive and predictive maintenance programs, document work, and track system performance and reliability.
  • Provide direction to lower-level staff, trades personnel, or contractors assigned to related work and support training when needed.
  • Respond to after-hours or weekend work needs, including emergency situations such as outages, equipment failures, or other facility events.
