Perform all types of work involved in the construction, maintenance, rebuild, removal, operation, testing and inspection of energized or de-energized generation, transmission and distribution facilities. Assist in responding to emergency call-outs on station trouble and coordinating prompt restoration of service to customers as required. This role involves working on energized equipment up to 260 volts, and after six months, assisting with work on conductors and equipment energized at voltages above 750 volts with direct supervision. The position requires selecting proper prints and/or drawings, using various test equipment, and assisting in the maintenance and repair of station equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and rotating machinery. Responsibilities also include installing conduit, pipe, cable, and wire, digging trenches, climbing station structures, and using various insulating materials and protective coatings. The role involves making visual inspections, reading gauges, performing start-run-stop tests on generators and pumps, replacing electrical components, and assisting with oil sample tests and electrical tests for transformer maintenance. Additionally, the position requires assisting with station switching, checking equipment clearances, making de-energized tests, and placing grounds as directed. Proficiency in steel and aerial lift rescue is necessary. The role also includes maintaining records, preparing reports, attending and participating in training, and operating company vehicles and specialized equipment. The Station Electrician will use hand and power tools, operate portable generators, blowers, and pumps, and inspect and store personal protective equipment. Knowledge and use of various knots used in station work are required. The employee will perform similar or less skilled work as assigned, assist employees of higher classification, and direct the work of employees assigned to assist. A strong understanding of the Company's safety rules, resuscitation, and First Aid is essential, along with performing duties in accordance with safety rules and operating regulations.
