About The Position

Requirements

• Outstanding ability to identify "the story" and make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated competency with news editing software, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and social media management tools.
• Exceptional verbal and written skills; ability to deal effectively with diverse personalities under tight deadlines.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently and remain calm under high-pressure, breaking news scenarios.
• Must be able to work a varied schedule, including overnights , early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as news needs dictate.
• Minimum of two (2) years of TV news experience preferred, specifically on an assignment desk.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather story information from diverse sources, determine newsworthiness, and lead the charge in "enterprise" story generation.
• Strategically assign and dispatch news crews and chopper , keeping all staff apprised of breaking news, changing assignments, and future coverage plans.
• Select and develop reporting assignments in collaboration with Reporters, Photographers, and Producers.
• Manage daily non-linear editing using state-of-the-art equipment.
• Respond quickly to Producer requests for show elements and edited segments.
• Conduct "beat checks" with law enforcement/government agencies and maintain constant communication with affiliates and station leadership.
• Other duties as assigned.
