About The Position

The Office of the District Attorney, Prosecutorial District 2, seeks a qualified candidate to provide legal support services to the prosecutors in the Beaufort County office. Duties include but are not limited to the following: assist victims and witnesses understand and prepare for court; assist the public; type correspondence; answer phones; prepare legal documents; prepare files; gather information to assist in the prosecution of cases; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of court system and procedures
  • Knowledge of legal terminology
  • Knowledge of community resources to refer victims and witnesses
  • Skill in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Accurately typing 35-40 wpm
  • Skill in answering a multi-line telephone system
  • Ability to interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule the daily operations of the victim and witness program
  • Ability to manage the court appearances of victims and witnesses to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies and the general public
  • Ability to calmly handle stressful situations
  • Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate
  • Two (2) years of legal secretarial experience
