About The Position

Contributes to the district’s mission and vision to ensure exemplary education that inspires excellence and success within every learner by providing behavioral strategies and techniques to staff. The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will oversee hiring, training, and supervision of District Behavior Specialists, facilitate NCI trainings, support summer programming, and provide on-site consultation for students with behavioral concerns across Preschool-12th grade. This role involves assisting IEP teams in conducting Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) and developing Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP), conducting classroom observations, and providing ongoing training and consultation on district policies, crisis intervention, and behavior management strategies. The BCBA will also provide behavior support consistent with students’ IEPs and State Standards, develop materials and strategies for effective learning, participate in various meetings, and consult with parents, staff, outside agencies, site administration, and school psychologists. Monitoring students in inclusive and special school settings and suggesting ways to integrate behavioral goals into daily activities are also key functions.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in education related field
  • Current Arizona BCBA certification
  • Current AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, collaboration, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to adjust based on immediate needs and to work independently
  • Knowledge of state standards, IDEA, 504 procedures, and research based instructional practices

Responsibilities

  • Oversee hiring, training and supervising District Behavior Specialists
  • Facilitate NCI trainings for required employee groups
  • Support summer programming
  • Provides on-site consultation regarding Preschool-12th grade students identified with behavioral concerns
  • Assists IEP teams in conducting Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) and/or Functional Assessments to ascertain functions of behaviors to recommend and apply positive behavior interventions and concerns.
  • Assists IEP team with the development and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Assists MET/IEP team with classroom observations and data collection.
  • Provides MET/IEP teams with on-going training and consultation regarding district restraint and seclusion policy and procedures, crisis intervention and non-violent crisis deescalation, and effective behavior analysis and management strategies, including the FBA/FBIP process.
  • Provides behavior support consistent with students’ IEP’s and the State Standards, using strategies, methods and materials appropriate to the learner’s abilities, needs and learning style.
  • Develops materials and behavioral management strategies, which will enable more effective learning.
  • Participates in Multidisciplinary Conferences, IEP meetings and parent conferences as needed and appropriate.
  • Consults with parents, staff and outside agencies as appropriate or necessary.
  • Attends required department and site meetings.
  • Consults with site administration and school psychologist.
  • Monitors students in inclusive and special school settings.
  • Suggests ways to integrate behavioral goals and objectives into daily classroom activities.
  • Effectively observe, document, and analyze behavior
  • Identify appropriate behavior intervention strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Accurately assess the effectiveness of implemented strategies
  • Accurately analyze behavior in a school setting and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Utilize variety of data collection methods and tools
  • Develop data summary reports and recommendations that include graphs and visuals as appropriate
  • Assess basic skills across developmental domains and identify related targets for skill acquisition programs
  • Create individualized materials to support recommended programs and interventions
