About The Position

This is a full-time position for the 2026/2027 School Year, requiring 261 days of work per school year with 7.5 hours per day. The role involves providing system-wide service for the unloading, loading, delivery, transfer, and placement of various items including food, supplies, textbooks, furniture, mail, and equipment. The Lead Delivery Driver must be able to work independently and maintain a daily schedule, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of specified items.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques and rules of the road.
  • Knowledge of interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques.
  • Knowledge of map reading techniques.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to drive an assigned District vehicle to pick-up deliver parts, supplies, equipment, materials and other items.
  • Ability to receive requests, prioritize and prepare daily work schedules.
  • Ability to plan routes for destination.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to observe legal and defensive driving practices.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Ability to meet schedules and time lines.
  • High school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law.
  • Valid Kentucky driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide for vehicle maintenance and operate assigned vehicles.
  • Deliver mail, food, supplies, textbooks, furniture and equipment to schools and offices in the District; transport specified items in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing freight.
  • Place food commodities in specified areas in individual schools as assigned.
  • Assist in a variety of warehouse operations including receiving, storage, stock issue and maintenance of inventory.
  • Assist with moving materials, supplies, commodities, furniture and equipment for the schools and offices as requested.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
