About The Position

Requirements

• Enrollment in an associate’s, undergraduate, or graduate program at a college or university; recent graduates are not eligible.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States for the duration of the internship, June 8 through August 13, 2026.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask with competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.
• Ability to provide positive customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• The position is intended for a student pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Security Operations Center with monitoring and triaging security alerts.
• Analyze potential cybersecurity incidents and document investigative findings.
• Help identify, track, prioritize, and report vulnerabilities across enterprise systems and applications.
• Research emerging threats, threat actors, indicators of compromise, and industry trends relevant to the energy sector.
• Participate in department-specific projects, analysis, and research, and learn project management skills.
• Support the team in developing business solutions that contribute to NYPA’s VISION2030 strategic goals.
• Research industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to continuous program improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve security processes, enhance threat visibility, and support cybersecurity projects.
• Complete other projects as assigned; projects will vary based on focus area.
