About The Position

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has multiple openings for graduate students in its Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Summer Institute (CSI). Interns work on cybersecurity topics aligned with LLNL’s national security missions, including developing and implementing tools and capabilities to mitigate advanced threats and addressing the cybersecurity of civilian and defense critical infrastructure. The 2027 program runs during the summer, with start dates from May 17, 2027, through June 21, 2027, and flexible end dates through September 24, 2027. Participants can take part in professional and technical development with laboratory subject matter experts, network with interns and employees, and learn about LLNL’s national security work. The position requires full-time, on-site presence. Interns provide research and technical support to cybersecurity and critical infrastructure projects, conduct research under limited direction and supervision, support laboratory software, hardware, and operating system documentation and testing, and complete technical assignments. They attend at least one relevant on-site seminar or training class per week and present their work through presentations and/or poster sessions.
