About The Position
The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals, ensuring that food quality and safety standards are maintained. This position is a part-time schedule 3 to 4 days a week including weekends.
Requirements
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices.
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions or allergies in regards to food preparation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Skill in communicating with a variety of people from varying backgrounds.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in cooking for large groups.
- High school Diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Support and adhere to the NPI Code of Ethics, work rules, policies, plans and procedures to promote a safe and secure environment for the residents, visitors and employees of New Paths.
- Prepare food according to recipes or personal creativity.
- Cook food using methods such as grilling, baking, frying, steaming, etc.
- Ensure dishes are plated attractively.
- Maintain food safety by storing ingredients properly and adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils.
- Bag and remove trash as needed and transport via rolling cart to dumpster.
- Work in a collaborative and efficient work environment with coworkers and clients volunteers.
- Weekends (2 per month) and rotating holiday work.
- NPW cooks are responsible for taking inventory and communicating what is needed to the kitchen manager.
- Stock days are every Thursday, if offsite at NPW it is the cooks responsibility to go to the main building and restock when supplies are low.
- Other duties as assigned.
