About The Position

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient-centered 80-100% (32-40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at our UICC Heartland Drive Internal Medicine Clinic. This position will mainly support our Heartland Drive Internal Medicine Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations based on clinical need or hours. For over 100 years, Iowa Healthcare’s primary focus has been the health and wellness of our patients. We provide care for pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services, and more. Our team builds relationships with patients, monitors their care history, and delivers personalized, compassionate care to every patient. When a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the appropriate UI Health Care specialist, ensuring a seamless experience by sharing your medical records. Requirements

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit.
  • Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous EPIC experience
  • Previous Internal Medicine experience
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork, collaboration, and autonomy in all aspects of the role
  • Previous experience handling and processing lab specimens

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel.
  • In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
