About The Position
Bright Horizons is hiring a Child Care Field Assistant Director to support the Center Director with daily operations and help ensure the center runs smoothly in accordance with company standards and guidelines. The role supports administration and educational programming, mentors teachers, welcomes new families, and helps create an inclusive environment and strong relationships with families, staff, and clients. The position requires in-person work at an early education or preschool child care center and travel for temporary assignments, including a willingness to commute up to 1½ hours each way from the home center to another center or school. The role combines office and computer work, supervision across the center, family and prospective-family interactions, and brief periods of serving as a supervising caregiver when needed. It also includes center supervision, curriculum delivery, business management, and customer and client services in accordance with company policies, procedures, guidance, and applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Education.
- NYS Teaching Certification in B-2, N-6, 1-6, or Special Education.
- At least two years of center supervisory or administrative experience in a high-quality program.
- Pass required state and company background checks.
- Meet and maintain Bright Horizons, client (as applicable), and state and local requirements and licensing credentials.
- In-depth understanding of center quality, compliance, health, safety, and licensing standards.
- Knowledge and ability to lead staff in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Communication, leadership of diverse teams, organization, systems management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities at all levels of direct care.
- Knowledge of business operations and center or school financial performance management.
- Proficiency with technology platforms used for business operations.
- Willingness to travel and commute up to 1½ hours each way from the home center for temporary assignments.

Responsibilities

- Support the Center Director with daily operations and center administration.
- Monitor program quality and ensure children’s learning is documented and visible.
- Ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation standards, health and safety protocols, and company policies.
- Lead staff in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Mentor teachers and welcome new families.
- Support business operations and management of center or school financial performance.
- Provide center supervision, curriculum delivery, business management, and customer and client services.
- Supervise care delivery and employees throughout the center and temporarily serve as a supervising caregiver when needed.
- Travel to centers or schools for temporary assignments, commuting up to 1½ hours each way from the home center.
