About The Position

Kemper Development Company, a family-owned, fourth-generation company located in Downtown Bellevue, is seeking a Building Engineer. This role is crucial for maintaining and improving building systems across all properties in the KDC portfolio on a 24/7 basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be dependable, respectful, productive, and a good team player, upholding the company's values and goals. This position requires a significant degree of independence and initiative, with regular assessments of knowledge and skills. English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills are essential.

  • Uses logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions before making decisions.
  • Uses logic in problem solving to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions.
  • Read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Subject to call 24/7, carrying company issued cell phone and/or other electronic communication device(s).
  • Ability to analyze things that need to be changed, and then implement change in a sensitive, effective, and legally sound manner.
  • Computer proficiency in standard software including Microsoft Office and applicable maintenance programs.
  • Ability to respond to all supervisor requests in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Deal with people in a manner showing sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • 3 years of progressive experience in Building systems maintenance.
  • English reading/writing skills and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating, modifying, and performing preventative maintenance functions on building systems.
  • Operating, maintaining, improving, troubleshooting, and repairing all aspects of building systems across all properties.
  • Completing work orders and repairs across all properties in the KDC Portfolio.
  • Maintaining properties and all designated equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Performing repairs such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  • Assisting in completing tenant service requests.
  • Providing customer service.
  • Detailed, scheduled maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, steam systems, and specialty items.
  • Performing preventive maintenance work and entering equipment performance data.
  • Repairing, troubleshooting, and assisting with the installation of mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, and cooling systems.
  • Ensuring completion of maintenance and repair jobs in accordance with established standards.
  • Patrolling, inspecting, logging, and maintaining mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping, and plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Assisting with fire/life/safety and security programs.
  • Performing special projects as assigned.
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Coordinating, planning, and scheduling maintenance and operation of building systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing building systems in a timely fashion, documenting actions taken and reasons.
  • Communicating and fostering teamwork with other Kemper Departments.
