About The Position

The Manufacturing Optimization Engineer II (Automation & Factory Transformation) will lead factory transformation initiatives by applying systems thinking, Lean principles, and automation technologies to redesign and optimize production environments. This role is key in driving scalable, high-impact improvements across multiple facilities within the Marmon Plumbing & Refrigeration Group. As part of Marmon Holdings, a Berkshire Hathaway company, you will contribute to industry-leading companies that design, manufacture, and distribute high-quality products for the plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering, factory design, or manufacturing transformation
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Mapping
  • Experience leading process improvement or automation initiatives
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with automation, robotics, or Industry 4.0 initiatives
  • Exposure to ERP/MES integration
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean certification
  • Practical experience with manufacturing quality management systems
  • Practical experience with preventative maintenance programs
  • Practical experience with Supply chain management processes
  • Experience with digital factory modeling or simulation tools

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing operations from a systems perspective to drive transformation initiatives
  • Design and optimize end-to-end value streams to improve throughput and efficiency
  • Lead automation projects including design, integration, and implementation of robotics and PLC systems
  • Evaluate facility layouts, equipment utilization, and automation strategies
  • Translate simulation and modeling insights into actionable transformation roadmaps
  • Drive Lean initiatives, including Kaizen events and continuous improvement programs
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to align process improvements with business goals
  • Utilize data analytics to drive decision-making and performance improvements
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership
