Control Engineer - Building Automation
About The Position
Our client is a highly successful and leading company that provides energy-efficient products and services designed to help contain, lower and control utility expenditures. They offer turn-key solutions for the analysis, design, engineering and implementation of energy conservation measures for commercial & Industrial buildings throughout New England. We have an immediate opening for an experienced and well-qualified Controls Engineer to join our Clients team! We are seeking a controls engineer, who will work closely with our clients project development, engineering and installation teams, on implementation of all building automation system projects. In this role you will be an integral part of our clients building automation division and you’ll work in the field with our electricians and mechanical teams to ensure projects are installed and commissioned successfully. You will be responsible for supporting the effective design of controls projects including development of control drawings and sequences of operation, programming, and equipment specifications. To be effective, you’ll ensure all work performed is in compliance with state, local and federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. You’ll develop practices and processes to ensure cost effective engineering while providing consistent delivery and customer satisfaction. And, you will be responsible for implementing site safety and security procedures and will play an active role in developing the safety program. We are looking for someone who will serves as an expert in application engineering that works effectively across all departments including sales, operations and engineering.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the construction/ HVAC industry, control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building sub-systems.
- Basic understanding of mechanical HVAC/ plumbing building systems
- Excellent initiative, and interpersonal communications skills; able to work with coworkers and clients, ability to handle a variety of situations encountered during implementation process, discipline to work with limited supervision
- Ability to read project specifications and "blueprint" drawings.
- Eager and committed to working in a fast-paced energy services company
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- A minimum of 3+ years’ relevant experience
- Able to use conventional business tools including Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule
- Valid drivers' license, available for local travel
Nice To Haves
- Journeyman or Masters Electrical License a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, related discipline or equivalent in the field experience
Responsibilities
- The ability to diagnose, design, configure, and repair building control systems.
- Conduct site assessments and provide customers with recommendations for retrofits, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
- Assist the sales team by providing technical recommendations for sales leads.
- Manage assigned work to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings (may assist with job layouts and bid proposals).
- Validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
- Assist with cost estimating, project scheduling and project management activities as needed
- Work in the field, as needed, with our control’s technicians, mechanical team and electricians to ensure projects are executed safely and to specification.
- Manage the standardization and process of our controls group, including the creation of standard templates and analysis tools
- Manage the selection, ordering and delivery schedule of materials to be procured
- Establish long-term customer, contractor, and vendor relationships
- Coordinate and deliver customer training; provide proper documentation and close-out packages as required
