About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science or related technological field and 2+ years of experience in the automation field preferably in the life sciences
• Master's degree with 1+ years of experience in the automation field preferably in the life sciences field
• Direct experience with regulated environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA, EPA)
• Electrical Engineer or Chemical Engineer
• Experienced in establishment of safe practices in a cGMP environment.
• Proficient working with computer programs/applications such as Windows, VBA, MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.
• Strong organizational skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and be accountable
• Proven technical and analytical skills to quickly resolve automation system issues

Nice To Haves

• Experience with DeltaV automation
• Experience with multiple computerized systems (Ignition, Werum PAS-X, PI, etc.)
• Experience with SCADA/PLC systems such as Rockwell Factory Talk/RSLogix, Honeywell
• Understanding of network infrastructure
• Experience with systems/network/validation, preferable in the chemical, pharmaceutical, foods, or other process industries is preferred
• Understanding of virtual environments, VMWare, Hyper-V

Responsibilities

• Providing automation expertise for small to medium projects, including continuous improvement and retrofit.
• Troubleshooting and supporting the delivery of future enhancements for automation-related systems.
• Maintaining and providing technical support, ensuring availability of automation systems for multiple manufacturing facilities.
• Providing leadership and direction to junior team members while embodying the principles of the Sanofi Global Leadership Model.
• Ensuring timely issue escalation to senior management and cross-functional support teams.
• Partnering with support teams (e.g., Manufacturing, Quality) to ensure deliverables are completed to meet production schedules.
• Providing technical solutions to a wide range of process automation related design challenges, ensuring solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
• Ensuring process equipment automation is available to support operations schedule requirements.
• Managing small departmental projects and ensuring appropriate controls, approvals, and validation requirements are implemented.
• Integrating systems and data from a variety of skidded systems, analytical equipment, and process/building control systems.
• Developing robust solutions that have minimal downtime and ensure data integrity.
• Contributing to the development of automation standards.
• Complying with Sanofi requirements for training.
• Ensuring Inspection Readiness of assigned areas.
• Overseeing completion of investigations and deviations.
• Ensuring all assigned deviations and CAPA’s are closed in a timely manner.
• Ensuring Automation documentation is compliant and inspection ready.
• Participating in inspections conducted by external regulators.
• Complying with requirements from Genzyme’s Safety Program, including Health and Safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
• Working collaboratively with inter-department and cross-functional teams to lead necessary changes in a timely and productive manner.
• Partnering with Manufacturing to troubleshoot and drive resolution of process issues and proactively driving projects to improve manufacturing processes.
• Partnering with Operational Excellence to drive process improvements through Kaizens, Kanban, 5S and VSM.
