About The Position
Mitchell Auto Body, a division of The Mitchell Auto Group, is seeking an experienced estimator to appraise damaged vehicles. The ideal candidate is a team player who can work effectively in a fast-paced, professional workplace. The role involves preparing repair estimates and supplements, coordinating with insurance companies and customers, and following repairs through the shop. The company offers competitive wages and an excellent benefits package.
Requirements
- Two years of previous estimating experience in insurance or a body shop.
- Strong customer-service background and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to create and read estimates.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Connecticut Appraiser's License.
Responsibilities
- Write estimates and supplements for repairs.
- Determine whether damaged parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors, should be repaired or replaced.
- Work with insurance companies and negotiate repairs.
- Prepare repair orders and follow repairs through the shop.
- Communicate repair plans and guide customers through the repair process.
- Advocate with insurance companies for proper repairs.
- Occasionally maneuver around and underneath damaged vehicles.
