The Field Auto Damage Appraiser handles auto claims through on-site visits, virtual inspections, and written communication. The role meets customers at locations such as their homes, repair shops, and tow yards; writes repair estimates; and guides customers through repair or total loss processes. It involves evaluating vehicle damage, collaborating with body shops and service providers, and helping customers navigate claims in a fast-paced, field-based role. The appraiser investigates claims by reviewing damage and interpreting policies to determine coverage, communicates with customers using phone, email, and sometimes video, and evaluates and negotiates settlements with customers, vendors, third-party carriers, and claimants. The role also requires accurate and timely claim documentation. The first approximately eight weeks are dedicated to onboarding, licensing if applicable, and role-specific training. The position is based in Nassau County–Long Island, New York, and requires travel. A company car may be available depending on annual work mileage; personal vehicle use may be required, with mileage reimbursement. Candidates may be required to obtain adjuster and/or appraiser licenses in multiple markets within 60 days of hire and maintain them, including any required continuing education or renewal requirements. Compensation is $60,000–$117,700 annually, based on experience and qualifications. A $5,000 sign-on bonus may be offered to qualified candidates who receive and accept an employment offer. A separate $1,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible candidates with an active appraiser or adjuster license in Texas, Florida, or their resident state, subject to stated exclusions.
