About the position
Cleo, a company that aims to improve the world's financial health, is seeking a VP of Product Design to lead a team of 10 designers and establish design systems and processes. The ideal candidate should have significant experience in product design, be able to set a design vision that aligns with company and product strategy, and be a great people leader. The hiring process includes several stages, including a live case study and meeting with cross-functional partners. Responsibilities
- Create a design vision that brings the company and product strategy to life
- Engage key members of user experience, product, marketing and engineering in the creation of the design vision, getting feedback and aligning with the company and product strategy
- Work with design, product and engineering to determine the key changes that need to be made in existing product flows in order to realize the design vision and align with squads on getting this baseline in place
- Collaborate with Brand and Marketing to make sure all designs are consistent across every user touchpoint
- Establish and maintain design systems, processes, and best practices that enable efficient and scalable design operations across the organization
- Drive a user-centric design approach, advocating for the user's needs and ensuring that product and marketing designs are accessible, inclusive, and engaging for a diverse audience
- Set a design vision that aligns with company and product strategy, and visualize how a product’s competitive advantage and uniqueness can be achieved
- Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation across the team and the company
- Represent design at the leadership level and contribute meaningfully to strategic decisions
- Understand a product’s competitive landscape and know how user value affects business value, taking this into account in design decisions and prioritization.
Requirements
- Significant experience and expertise in product design, with experience heading up a Design function for highly-regarded B2C Product-led companies or agencies
- Experience setting a design vision that aligns with company and product strategy, and visualizing how a product’s competitive advantage and uniqueness can be achieved
- Ability to work in a startup environment at pace with a “done vs. perfect” mindset to get improvements out the door and then improve them iteratively
- Strong leadership and communication skills to get the company excited about the design vision and articulate how it links to the company and product strategy
- Ability to represent design at the leadership level and contribute meaningfully to strategic decisions
- Great people leadership skills to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation
- Passion for understanding other humans and their relationships with money, and care deeply about the goal of radically improving users' relationship with money
- Commercially-minded with an understanding of a product’s competitive landscape and how user value affects business value, taking this into account in design decisions and prioritization.
