About The Position

As the first point of contact for most clients, Tellers help deliver the bank’s Breakthrough Client Service Standards. With guidance from the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager, the Teller ensures banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations. The role also maintains and enhances client relationships through meaningful conversations that uncover client needs and identify opportunities to provide additional bank products and services. Tellers perform transactions and cash-handling functions accurately and confidentially, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, and cash-drawer balancing. They support daily tasks that maintain branch integrity, such as balancing the ATM using double custody, processing night-drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments and the credit card machine, processing returned mail, and updating lobby rate sheets and brochures. They mitigate risk by safeguarding cash and promptly accounting for or transferring funds. The Teller interacts with internal and external clients, anticipates needs, and provides proactive solutions and problem resolution in line with the bank’s service standards. The role requires keeping current on Columbia Bank products, services, and changes; discussing clients’ financial needs; offering appropriate products and services; and supporting branch referral goals by identifying and referring basic banking needs to the appropriate business partner.
