Sr. Product Marketing Manager - Subscription Growth

Chamberlain Group•Oak Brook, IL
•$129,700 - $209,200

About The Position

Chamberlain Group (CG), a global leader in intelligent access and a Blackstone portfolio company, uses myQ technology to make access simple and secure for homeowners, businesses, and communities worldwide. Its LiftMaster® and Chamberlain® brands are found in more than 51 million homes, and more than 14 million people use the myQ® app daily. The Sr. Product Marketing Manager sits on the myQ Residential Services Marketing team and owns cohort activation orchestration for subscription growth. For each priority cohort, the manager defines messaging, channels, sequence, and tests, then aligns partner teams across in-app, email and CRM, push, paid, and web. The role is the direct marketing counterpart to Product for software and AI feature releases, translating the established brand and subscription messaging system into cohort- and release-level language for new features, tiers, and campaigns. The position owns subscription demand among hardware owners who are not subscribers and are not active in the app, and partners with Data Science to turn propensity and LTV scoring into activation priorities. It plans subscription go-to-market across the customer lifecycle, from free trial through upgrade and retention, while lifecycle execution remains with the lifecycle team. It also develops post-tentpole subscription marketing plans, tests paid media with central media partners, and contributes to planning and performance reporting. Success is measured by higher installed-base attach, a stronger premium-tier mix, and cohort activations that progress from tests to always-on programs. The pay range is $129,700.00–$209,200.00. Base pay may vary based on factors including position, location, education, training, and experience. The position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, a 401(k) contribution, and participation in a short-term incentive plan, subject to applicable eligibility requirements and plan terms. Travel up to 10–20% may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 7 years of experience in product marketing, subscription growth, or growth marketing; consumer experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated product marketing capabilities in positioning, messaging, audience activation, and go-to-market for software or feature releases that measurably improved attach, conversion, or upgrade rates.
  • Experience owning a cross-functional activation plan delivered by multiple execution teams without direct reporting authority.
  • Experience running paid media tests with a central media team or agency and building a case that earned incremental investment.
  • Experience designing and leading an experimentation agenda, including launching lean tests and scaling validated winners to enterprise rollout.
  • Ability to apply an established subscription value framework to clear, tier-differentiated language by cohort and manage messaging amid stakeholder input.
  • Analytical mindset and fluency with KPIs such as attach rate, premium-tier mix, LTV, cohort retention, and conversion funnels; ability to translate insights into roadmap decisions.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams across Product, Data Science, personalization and Martech, lifecycle and CRM, channel, Creative Strategy, and central media while respecting ownership boundaries.
  • Test-and-learn operating approach, including launching small tests, interpreting results, and scaling winners; comfort with attribution and incrementality tradeoffs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready performance narratives and decision recommendations.
  • Ability to travel up to 10–20% as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in smart home, connected devices, consumer apps, or hardware, software, and services ecosystems.
  • Experience marketing software or AI features to an existing hardware installed base.
  • Familiarity with in-app messaging and paywall or upgrade experiences in partnership with Product teams.
  • Familiarity with personalization and Martech stacks, including CDP and journey orchestration, as an activation partner rather than an owner, and with briefing centralized teams to scale validated activations.
  • Comfort with experiment-design limitations, including sample size, cohort granularity, and read time, as well as attribution limitations.
  • Comfort building lightweight subscription growth systems, such as briefs, decision logs, and offer libraries, to scale learning across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own cohort activation orchestration by defining messaging, surfaces, sequence, and tests for priority subscription cohorts across in-app, email and CRM, push, paid, and web, and hold partner teams to the plan.
  • Serve as the direct marketing counterpart to Product for software and AI feature releases, owning positioning, distribution, and review of in-app messaging for features that support subscription conversion.
  • Translate the established messaging system into cohort- and release-level language for new features, tiers, and campaigns.
  • Own subscription demand outside the app, reaching hardware owners who are not subscribers and are not active users through paid, email, web, and partner surfaces.
  • Plan subscription go-to-market across the customer lifecycle, from free trial through upgrade and retention, using lifecycle and CRM as channels while leaving journey execution to the lifecycle team.
  • Own the post-tentpole subscription marketing plan for each major event, including Prime Day, Prime Big Deal Days, and Holiday, and build it into the event plan.
  • Work from the established cohort framework to identify and validate product use cases that drive subscription value for each cohort; partner with Data Science to translate propensity and LTV scoring into activation priorities and campaign targeting.
  • Improve realized premium-tier mix through offer construction, articulation, and bundling, working within the tier and pricing architecture set by Product; take over hardware and software bundle optimization from Product following initial launch.
  • Design and run subscription paid media tests with the central media team and Creative Strategy Lead, and scale only validated results. Ongoing subscription paid media investment is not currently approved and must be earned through test results.
  • Extend subscription growth marketing to adjacent segments and partner teams as opportunities are approved; no adjacent segment is currently in scope.
  • Establish operating rhythms and reporting that connect subscription performance to decisions and plan updates.
  • Contribute to annual and quarterly planning by identifying subscription growth opportunities, resource needs, and expected impact.
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure team compliance.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group’s reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, personal networks, and professional societies.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results and participating in projects as needed.
