Social Media Manager

Genesis•San Carlos, CA

About The Position

Genesis is hiring a Social Media Manager to own the company’s brand across social platforms, starting with X and expanding to LinkedIn, YouTube, and other channels. The role will build awareness, understanding, and engagement among researchers, labs, scientists, and prospective hires by sharing evidence of Genesis’s work in robotics and AI. Working with engineering teams and founders, the Social Media Manager will capture research, hardware, and model-training work and turn it into accurate, engaging content. The position includes producing short-form video, developing technical posts and founder-led content, engaging with researchers and the Genesis World open-source community, and coordinating publishing around launches. It also requires careful review of robot footage and captions, including verification of operating conditions, customer approvals, and data rights. The role will use channel analytics and audience quality to improve future content.

Requirements

  • Social media or editorial experience, including direct responsibility for a technical organization’s channels.
  • Technical comprehension sufficient to identify useful stories in research papers or hardware reviews while preserving important caveats.
  • Short-form video production skills, including hands-on shooting and editing or experience directing others with specific briefs and useful feedback.
  • Strong writing skills for concise posts and substantive technical threads, with judgment about when a diagram or an unbroken clip communicates better than copy.
  • Sound editorial judgment about what is ready to publish, what requires technical review, and what should remain private.
  • A track record of building relationships with researchers and open-source contributors through useful exchanges and consistent credit.
  • Clear understanding of channel analytics and audience quality, supported by examples of changes made in response to evidence.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience covering robotics or embodied AI, with familiarity with open-source research communities and contributor norms.
  • A record of supporting founder-led content while preserving individual voices.
  • Experience handling public questions about automation and jobs with direct answers and respect for industrial workers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Genesis’s social channels, beginning with X and extending to LinkedIn, YouTube, and other platforms; own the publishing calendar and tailor content to each audience.
  • Capture and edit short videos from the lab and field, or direct shoots and edits; plan footage with engineers to clearly show tasks and results.
  • Translate research and model-training work into technical threads focused on specific findings, evaluation choices, hardware constraints, or lessons from unsuccessful attempts.
  • Attend engineering reviews and meet with founders regularly to capture work at the source and develop founder-led posts that preserve individual voices and technical judgment.
  • Engage researchers and the Genesis World open-source community through substantive replies and questions, credit contributors, and route technical questions to the appropriate people.
  • Coordinate launch-day publishing with product marketing, support employee voices, and prepare assets that make accurate sharing easy.
  • Review robot footage and captions for platform, operating conditions, autonomy, playback speed, and edits that could affect interpretation; confirm customer approval and data-rights review for customer material.
  • Measure reach and meaningful engagement among researchers, engineers, and target candidates, using audience quality and results to improve subsequent work.
