About the position
The job overview for this role is that the company, Hatch, is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join their growing design community. The focus of this role will be on kids' sleep health, helping babies and kids develop good sleep habits and making bedtime and wake up moments less stressful and more fun for the whole family. The Senior Product Designer will lead design efforts in collaboration with research, product, and engineering teams to constantly improve the product experiences. This role offers the opportunity to work on building new IoT product experiences and pushing the boundaries of digital product design while keeping customers at the center of everything they do.
Responsibilities
- Build a solid understanding of the device ecosystem, the science of sleep, and the Hatch brand
- Form strong collaborative relationships across design, engineering, audio content, product, and marketing teams
- Dive deep into the diverse needs of parent and kid customers through past work and ongoing research
- Immerse yourself in the current product interface, design system, and history of the kids app
- Operate confidently as a core member of the kids team
- Take ownership of in-process and product spec Figma files
- Work closely with Product and Engineering to improve the product and launch new features
- Proactively spot opportunities to improve design workflows and document areas for product improvement
- Act as the go-to resource for design on kids products
- Lead design within the kids product team, bringing in other designers as needed
- Demonstrate collaboration and communication between engineering and product teams
- Contribute to infusing creativity, play, and learning into the team culture
- Passion for state-of-the-art product experiences that lead with simplicity and delight
- 5+ years of mobile product design/UX/UI experience with a strong portfolio
- Significant experience using core design tools (Figma and Adobe CS)
- Strong storytelling and communication skills
- Utilize insights, performance feedback, and design sensibilities to transform customer needs and business goals into engaging designs
- Deep understanding of UX practices, color, space, typography, iconography, illustration, and visual interface design best practices
- Excitement about building a strong design culture within a fast-paced environment
