About The Position

Roo is hiring a senior individual contributor to lead growth marketing for its Veterinary Marketplace. The role owns how veterinarians discover Roo, sign up, and move from a new account to requesting their first shift. Time is divided approximately evenly between acquisition and activation, with success measured by veterinarians who work rather than leads or sign-ups. The position owns acquisition strategy and budget, including channel mix, geographic and audience allocation, paid media performance, and CPA and payback targets. It also owns activation levers outside lifecycle marketing, including the sign-up flow, landing-page conversion work, top-of-funnel tools, and the handoff to Onboarding and Business Development (BD). The role partners with a shared paid-media agency, the brand team, the events team, the lifecycle marketer, a Staff Product Manager, and the GM of the Veterinary Marketplace Business Unit. It reports to the GM, with a dotted line to the Marketing Chief, and participates in Roo’s marketing guild. The growth lead co-owns the Business Unit strategy with the GM and Staff Product Manager, maintains the acquisition model of record, and reports progress, spending, and learnings to leadership. Roo describes its mission as empowering veterinary professionals with career flexibility while helping animal hospitals provide care to more pets. Its platform connects veterinary professionals with practices for relief support, full-time hiring, and continuing education.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in growth or performance marketing.
  • Experience owning a marketing budget and channel mix, rather than only executing campaigns.
  • Experience being accountable for outcomes downstream of the click, such as activation, first purchase, or user retention, and adjusting spend based on those outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience with paid marketing, referral programs, AEO, and AI-driven outbound, and the judgment to decide which channels to stop.
  • Experience running conversion work within a product funnel alongside a product manager, with a user-journey orientation.
  • Ability to design experiments with genuine controls, interpret results honestly, and report negative results to leadership.
  • Comfort with SQL and cohort data, and ability to build analytical models independently.
  • Strong, clear, credible writing.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Own veterinarian acquisition strategy and budget, including channel mix, geographic and audience allocation, and CPA and payback targets.
  • Own paid-media strategy and performance, directing a shared agency partner responsible for day-to-day execution.
  • Own veterinarian AEO and set priorities and briefs for SEO and the website in collaboration with the brand team.
  • Build and own top-of-funnel tools for veterinarians, such as earnings and rate tools and tax and licensing help, using AI to create them; use the tools to capture prospective veterinarians and feed leads to the sales team.
  • Own the referral program end to end, including offer design, mechanics, payouts, fraud controls, and promotion.
  • Own veterinarian-only acquisition campaigns, including veterinarian-facing launches and partner offers, and contribute the acquisition layer to company-wide brand-led moments.
  • Own the conversion-rate-optimization backlog and test calendar for the sign-up flow and landing pages.
  • Help Onboarding get newly approved veterinarians to request their first shift during their first week.
  • Own the acquisition model of record, including channel CPA, cohort activation, lifetime value, and payback, as well as the holdout standard used to measure programs.
  • Own the interlock with Onboarding and BD, including lead lists, lead-scoring inputs, and handoff service-level agreements; coordinate the transition of veterinarians with no shift request after about a week to BD.
  • Partner with the events team to improve sign-ups from in-person events.
  • Co-own Business Unit strategy with the GM and Staff Product Manager, and report progress, spend, and learnings to leadership.
  • Partner with the Staff Product Manager on funnel-crossing work, maintaining a shared target, experiment roadmap, and analyst.
