Customer Service - Self Storage Manager
About The Position
Public Storage is hiring a Self Storage Manager to work independently across multiple locations. The role involves working both indoors and outdoors, helping customers determine their storage needs, and recommending storage options and packing and moving supplies. Managers inspect storage units to confirm inventory and availability, handle cash drawer audits and bank deposits, and help customers stay current on payments through reminder and collection calls. The position also includes cleaning and daily maintenance to keep interior areas and exterior grounds presentable. Schedules are flexible and full-time, with work hours between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and weekends until 5 p.m. Employees who average 20 or more hours are eligible for full-time benefits. The role requires travel between properties or other work-related destinations using the employee’s own vehicle, with mileage reimbursement available.
Requirements
- Experience in a customer-service-centered sales environment, such as retail, restaurant, fast food, or another service-based company.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to use a personal vehicle to travel between work locations and for other work-related business.
- Ability to lift, move, or transport items weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to walk around facilities, climb stairs, and open large doors.
- Ability to spend up to 50% of work time outdoors.
Responsibilities
- Assess customers’ storage needs and recommend appropriate options.
- Sell packing and moving supplies.
- Inspect storage units daily to confirm inventory and availability and ensure spaces are ready to rent.
- Audit cash drawers and make bank deposits.
- Help customers stay current on payments by making reminder and collection calls when required.
- Clean and maintain facilities, including sweeping and mopping interior areas and keeping exterior grounds clean and free of debris.
- Travel between work locations and conduct other work-related business using a personal vehicle.
