About the position
As the Principal Brand Designer at Constant Contact, you will play a crucial role in shaping and evolving the brand's visual identity and creative direction. Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, you will develop and execute innovative design strategies that align with the brand's values and objectives. Your expertise in brand design, typography, color theory, and visual storytelling will be instrumental in creating a consistent brand identity across multiple platforms. Additionally, you will provide mentorship to junior designers and ensure design best practices are upheld. This role requires strong visual skills, conceptual thinking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Craft, refine, implement, and communicate design vision and strategy across the organization
- Effectively communicate and evangelize design thinking throughout the organization with compelling visual storytelling
- Contribute to and improve the design culture, including best practices, tools, deliverables, communications, and relationships
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in an agile environment, including copy, UX, product marketing, content, data, and engineering partners
- Deliver innovative design experiences to customers at each stage of their journey
- Take ownership of work and responsibility for every last detail
- Lead dedicated project teams in design thinking
- Have a thorough understanding of the brand voice, visual identity, and core promise to create consistency across assets
- Show an appetite for designs that push boundaries and take risks
- Demonstrate proficiency with leading design software
- Find and craft elegant but practical solutions to design challenges
- Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas
- Value teamwork and provide and solicit feedback to raise the bar for quality
- Help set up frameworks and bring strategy to life through communication skills
- Be proactive, creative, adaptable, and collaborative
- Quickly generate engaging, elegant, easy-to-use, and technically-feasible ideas
- Have an outstanding eye for detail and consistency, combined with a deep understanding of branding, typography, color, and usability
- Champion user-centered design principles and methodologies
- Mentor designers
- Experience with motion graphics/animated design is a strong plus.
Requirements
- 8+ years of brand design experience for in-house, agency, or studio teams
- Portfolio showcasing designs that push boundaries and take risks
- Proficiency with leading design software including Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
- Ability to find and craft elegant but practical solutions to design challenges
- Proactive, creative, adaptable, and collaborative
- Outstanding eye for detail and consistency
- Deep understanding of branding, typography, color, and usability
- Champion user-centered design principles and methodologies
- Experience with motion graphics/animated design is a strong plus
