About the position
The HR Business Partner at Intercom is a key member of the People Operations team, responsible for helping Senior Leadership achieve organizational success at scale. This role requires an experienced and commercially-oriented individual who excels in thought partnership, problem solving, and strategic thinking. The HR Business Partner will provide guidance and input to leaders on various matters such as workforce planning, performance management, engagement and retention initiatives, and employee relations. They will also collaborate with HR Business Partners and other teams to drive strategic initiatives and support the rollout of key People programs.
Responsibilities
- Be an embedded and strategic thought partner to leaders, providing guidance and input on workforce and succession planning, performance management, engagement and retention initiatives, compensation, and employee relations.
- Participate in decision making at the Senior Leadership level within client groups and help leaders think and plan long term.
- Translate business needs and goals into personal and team actions.
- Coach leaders and people managers on proactive employee management and provide advice and guidance on various employee topics and issues.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to the development and execution of People Programs, supporting employee and manager enablement needs as needed.
- Partner closely with HR Business Partners and centers of excellence to identify and drive strategic initiatives, efficiencies, best practices, and continuity.
- Partner with the business to roll out key People initiatives such as performance management, compensation, benefits, and development programs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a people org role, with at least 3 years in a business partner function, preferably in a tech start-up environment
- Deep commercial understanding and willingness to share experience and perspective
- Ability to translate business goals and priorities into initiatives
- Consultative approach to strategic partnership
- Experience providing business partnership and support to diverse group of leaders and executives in a matrixed environment
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal)
- Knowledge of HR compliance regulations, employment laws, and industry best practices
- Team player with a sense of ownership and "get things done" attitude
