About the position

The job overview for the Porter position is that it offers a 4-day workweek schedule with full-time hours as an optional benefit. The role involves working in scratch-based kitchens, learning different positions in the restaurant, and developing leadership skills. The Porter will be responsible for washing dishes, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, stocking supplies, and supporting the team with daily cleaning tasks. The position also requires physical abilities and a passion for real good food. Overall, the Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining the restaurant's operations and contributing to the mission of rebuilding the food system.

Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, pots, etc using dishwashers or by hand.
  • Maintain cleanliness in dishwashing and prep kitchen work stations.
  • Stock cleaning supplies and dishes in their respective areas.
  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pick up areas.
  • Support team members and managers with daily cleaning tasks.
  • Gain exposure to different stations within the DIG kitchen including but not limited to garde manger, grill, roast, market line, and prep.
  • Work to support the team during peak and off peak service, by pitching in wherever and whenever necessary.
  • Multi-task and move in the kitchen for extended periods of time.
  • Help to maintain the "A" letter grade by following Department of Health and DIG food safety standards.
  • Demonstrate professional maturity and strictly uphold DIG's anti-discrimination & anti-harassment policies.
  • Go home feeling fulfilled knowing you are a part of a bigger mission to rebuild the food system.
  • Have a passion for real, good food and a desire to learn culinary practices and skills.
  • Demonstrate and execute a strong work ethic.
  • Perform physical requirements of the position (frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds).
  • Perform other physical requirements such as seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours.
  • Have a team-oriented focus and a deep appreciation for the people you work with.
  • Have excellent communication skills with managers and team members.
  • Have an eye for detail and solving challenges.
  • Have a desire for growth in the brigade.
