About The Position

Knowledge Services is hiring an Eligibility Specialist to support the FSSA/Division of Family Resources (DFR) at 1531 S Curry Pike, Bloomington, Indiana. The position assists with processing applications and documents for Indiana residents seeking or receiving public assistance, including TANF cash assistance, SNAP, and Medicaid. DFR determines eligibility for these programs. The role includes gathering and verifying applicant information, reviewing program requirements with clients, and using an automated system to determine eligibility. The position offers an extensive training program, paid time off, benefits, and the potential for promotion. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for 37.5 hours per week. The wage is $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

Highly organized and analytical team player.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
Basic math skills.
Case management skills.
Able to work independently; self-starting, reliable, and dependable.
Strong customer service background and professional demeanor.
High school diploma or GED required.
Two years of experience in a social service environment, state or local government, pertaining to employment or training programs, is desired.

Nice To Haves

Previous Case Manager experience is a plus.
Associate or bachelor's degree in Counseling or Social Services preferred.
Previous experience as a Case Manager, Eligibility Specialist, Eligibility Associate, Office Manager, Call Center Customer Service Specialist, or Client Specialist is encouraged.

Responsibilities

Gather data for relevant assistance programs through face-to-face meetings or by phone with clients.
Verify that information is gathered accurately and meets state policies.
Obtain release forms and medical records as needed.
Verify income, assets, and other financial or legal documents.
Review regulations and program requirements with clients.
Use an automated program to determine eligibility for state assistance programs.
Enter data into the state database.
Respond to inquiries promptly by phone or email.
