Assistant Salon Manager
About The Position
Join a locally owned Great Clips salon as an Assistant Salon Manager in Houghton Lake. This is a leadership-development opportunity for a licensed stylist who wants to support a team, help keep salon operations organized, and continue cutting hair. The role combines haircutting with supporting daily salon operations and motivating stylists. Prior management experience is not always required; the position may suit a stylist who is ready to take on more responsibility and grow into management. The salon offers hands-on training, mentorship, technical coaching, and ongoing management and operations development through Great Clips University (GCU), along with support from salon management. Great Clips salons use tools such as Online Check-In and the Great Clips App to help manage salon tasks. Salons are independently owned and operated by third-party franchisees, who are responsible for hiring and personnel matters.
Requirements
- A valid cosmetology and/or barber license; requirements vary by state or province.
- Strong technical haircutting skills and customer service.
- A team-first mindset and desire to encourage and support others.
- Clear communication skills and a positive, motivating attitude.
- Organization, flexibility, and a desire to help keep the salon running smoothly.
- Interest in developing leadership skills and taking on more responsibility.
