About The Position

Requirements

• One to two years of related experience in a warehouse environment.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Basic scanner technology skills.
• Ability to work the required schedule and arrive on time.
• Willingness and ability to work voluntary or mandatory overtime required during busy seasons.
• Ability to communicate courteously and professionally, follow verbal and written instructions, and work effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and read and interpret work-related documents, including receivers, invoices, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete, count, document, scan, and verify paperwork and units accurately.
• Ability to inspect incoming and outgoing product for condition and quality.
• Ability to work systematically, maintain production standards, work independently with minimal supervision, adapt to workplace changes, and take accountability for actions.
• Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect team member safety.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a yard tractor to remove loaded trailers from docks and stage empty trailers by priority at the appropriate doors.
• Coordinate with the warehouse team to manage the trailer pool in accordance with the dock schedule.
• Greet incoming carriers, provide direction, and assign dock doors.
• Conduct frequent yard checks and monitor and communicate trailer pool status.
• Ensure accuracy of bills of lading (BOL) paperwork and trailer seals.
• Enforce yard safety guidelines with carriers and provide yard safety suggestions.
• Pre-trip and inspect trailers to meet DOT compliance standards.
• Complete pre- and post-trip tractor checklists and keep equipment clean.
• Position trailers on docks using a yard switcher tractor and switch trailers as needed during the daily sort.
• Hook up sets of trailers for line hauls leaving the facility.
• Communicate trailer moves and trailer numbers clearly to operations management.
• Maintain yard cleanliness.
• Maintain forklift certification and assist with warehouse functions when necessary.
• Follow company safety and security policies and procedures and contribute to a safe work environment.
• Attend scheduled shifts reliably and perform other duties as assigned or needed by the General Manager or customer.
