About The Position
Animal Hospital of Dunedin is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to provide skilled care to patients and exceptional service to clients. The role supports veterinarians with patient care and technical procedures, while helping clients understand their pets’ care. The ideal candidate has animal-care experience, client communication skills, familiarity with veterinary procedures, and a passion for improving the lives of pets and their owners. The schedule rotates and includes weekend work. The hospital is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon. Compensation is $22.00–$24.00 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain animals.
- Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and status updates.
- Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
- Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
- Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
