About The Position
Small Door is a membership-based veterinary care organization offering veterinary services, 24/7 telemedicine, transparent pricing, and care in thoughtfully designed, stress-free spaces. This Licensed Veterinary Technician role is based at the West Village location and supports the veterinary team in providing compassionate, high-quality care. Small Door nurses work in state-of-the-art facilities with strong doctor-to-nurse staffing ratios and support from a 24/7 telehealth team and dedicated call center. The organization practices Fear Free and is AAHA accredited, and emphasizes collaboration, professional growth, and a positive work culture.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as a licensed veterinary technician in a general practice setting.
- Availability to work Saturday or Sunday.
- Comfort with computers and online tools.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Strong communication skills with clients.
- A thoughtful, fearless team-player attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for pets.
Responsibilities
- Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses and triage patients.
- Assess patients, record vital signs, and assist doctors with diagnostics.
- Complete treatments as instructed by the doctor.
- Provide basic husbandry and nursing care.
- Monitor changes in patients and provide compassionate care.
- Collect blood and place catheters.
- Assist with and facilitate radiography capture.
- Prepare samples for outside reference laboratories and run in-house laboratory tests.
- Prepare and administer medications.
- Help maintain a hospitable environment.
