About The Position
The Tele Sitter Technician provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients, verbally redirects patients from engaging in at-risk behaviors, and alerts nursing staff when a patient requires assistance. The role communicates with and supports the healthcare team, patients, and patients’ families or significant others, while maintaining high standards of professional ethics. The position is part-time, on-site in Pennsauken, New Jersey, and works a 12-hour day shift. The scheduled weekly total is 12 hours.
Requirements
- One year of previous experience in a hospital environment.
- One year of direct patient care experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of an Observer course.
- Current Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
Nice To Haves
- Preferred certification in patient care technician, nurse assistant, or medical assistant.
Responsibilities
- Maintain continuous visual observation of assigned patients.
- Verbally redirect patients using the digital two-way audio device in the patient’s room.
- Immediately alert nursing staff if a patient requires assistance.
- Follow safe work practices and safety rules, help prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participate in organizational and department safety programs.
- Learn new skills needed to support new or expanded programs and services.
- Provide appropriate care to the patient population, based on individualized patient needs and as delegated by the RN.
- Participate in hand-off of pertinent information and patient behavior when arriving on the unit and at the end of the shift assignment.
- Demonstrate understanding and use of the tele-sitter software program.
