Tele Sitter Monitor (Per Diem, Nights)
About The Position
The Tele Sitter Monitor provides continuous observation of assigned patients via video and two-way audio, offers psychological support, and monitors for safety. The first response to at-risk behavior is verbal redirection; the monitor then alerts nursing staff if a patient needs assistance. The role requires following patient and institutional confidentiality requirements and hospital policies. The monitor evaluates and reviews Tele Sitter utilization and workflows, including equipment management, continuous use, and appropriate patient selection. The employee also works in the Patient Monitor role on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
- Six months of direct patient care experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Demonstrated communication skills and sensitivity when interacting with hospitalized patients and families, including people with psychological needs.
- Remain alert while on duty.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset.
- Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes.
- Discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Basic computer operation skills and basic Microsoft Windows experience.
- Efficiency in multitasking and ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
Responsibilities
- Continuously observe assigned patients through video and two-way audio.
- Provide psychological supportive services and surveillance of assigned patients.
- Verbally redirect patients from at-risk behaviors and alert nursing staff when assistance is required.
- Follow patient and institutional confidentiality requirements and related hospital policies.
- Evaluate and review Tele Sitter utilization and operational workflows, including equipment management, continuous use, and appropriate patient selection.
- Work in the Patient Monitor role on an as-needed basis.
