About The Position

Texas Health Denton is seeking a Monitor Technician for its Emergency Department, a fast-paced teaching environment. The professional Monitor Technician demonstrates an understanding of basic human needs and patients’ affiliations, maintains confidentiality and positive interpersonal skills, and functions effectively in a changing environment. The role involves setting up and using telemetry monitoring equipment, accurately collecting and reporting patient rhythms and rates, identifying abnormalities, and communicating information that supports continuity of care and patient safety. This is a full-time night-shift position at Texas Health Denton in Denton, Texas. The schedule is 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., three shifts per week, totaling 36 hours weekly, with weekend and holiday requirements. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Basic understanding of medical terminology.
One year of direct patient care experience involving telemetry monitoring, or completion of an educational program that includes telemetry monitoring.
BCLS required before providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate competency in setting up and using telemetry monitoring equipment.
Collect, report, and document patient information, including rhythms and rates, promptly and accurately.
Distinguish and report abnormalities and initiate action to support continuity of care.
Ensure admissions and dismissals are processed promptly and prepare monitors for admissions.
Promptly communicate perceived risks to patient safety or an immediate need for assistance.
Assist with documentation that meets hospital and regulatory requirements.
Document accurately and appropriately.
