Geomatics Office Technician

About The Position

Stratus recently partnered with Stewart and is seeking a Geomatics Office Technician, will work as a collaborative member of the delivery team performing calculations, drafting, research and other associated duties with a minimum of supervision while assisting in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of way, transmission line, transportation, construction, and other types of field surveys and/or subsurface utility engineering (SUE) location utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technologies.

Requirements

  • 5 years of relevant field experience and/or 3 years of drafting experience in AutoCAD 3D version 2018 (minimum)
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Valid drivers license
  • Dependable and physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites in all weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Complete an advanced utility locating training course or ability to obtain within 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Perform survey-related office duties including calculations, drafting, and research.
  • Work with survey/SUE field data to help prepare final project deliverables.
  • Ensure field crews are equipped with maps, calculations, and information needed for daily tasks.
  • Manage quality of work to include accuracy, thoroughness, and clarity.
  • Prepare meeting schedules and budgets with a high level of service to clients.
  • Operate software to include AutoCAD/MicroStation and associated add-ons (i.e., Civil 3D and GeoPak) in the performance of duties.
  • As required, work in field to with surveying and/or SUE instrumentation and equipment such as prisms, total stations, global positioning systems (GPS), data collectors, magnetic locators, and ground penetrating radar.
  • Work with field surveyors to ascertain the locations of natural features and man-made structures on the Earth’s surface, underground and underwater.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, project workers, and public.
  • Collaborate with Geomatics leadership on projects and provide input on project costs and deadlines.
  • Ensure safekeeping of all equipment, computers, and software.
  • Read, interpret, and develop construction, utility, and survey maps.
  • Remain actively engaged in professional development by completing coursework, trainings, or professional certifications.
