About The Position

A.E.P. Thermal Inc. is a Canadian manufacturer specializing in engineered electric boiler systems and related industrial equipment. Our product lines include low-voltage electric boilers, high-voltage electrode boilers and associated electrical and mechanical systems. We design and manufacture specialized equipment for industrial applications in Canada and international markets. Our high-voltage product line involves complex mechanical, electrical and electronic systems requiring specialized assembly, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting expertise. A.E.P. Thermal Inc. is looking for an experienced Senior Electro-Mechanical Technician – High Voltage Product Line to join our technical and manufacturing team. This is a specialized, hands-on technical position focused primarily on the assembly, installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of our high-voltage electrode boiler systems and their related electrical and mechanical components. The successful candidate must have strong practical experience working with complex electrical and mechanical equipment and be comfortable working independently on specialized high-voltage systems. The position requires a high level of accuracy, technical judgment, troubleshooting ability and attention to safety and quality. The technician will work closely with our engineering, production and management teams and may also assist with commissioning, technical support and troubleshooting of equipment at customer locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant hands-on experience in electro-mechanical, electrical/electronic or industrial equipment manufacturing, assembly, commissioning or service – Required.
  • Significant experience assembling, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, electrical panels, controls and industrial electrical components.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working with medium- and high-voltage equipment and industrial power system – Required.
  • Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment, including multimeters and other specialized testing instruments.
  • Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs and technical specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to diagnose complex electrical and mechanical problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ability to perform precise assembly work and follow detailed engineering specifications.
  • Ability to work independently on technically complex assignments.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality and safety.
  • Good computer skills and ability to work with technical documentation and related software.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with engineering, production and technical personnel.
  • Intermediate or higher French – Required
  • Intermediate or higher English – Required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industrial equipment commissioning and start-up is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install and test electrical and mechanical components used in high-voltage electrode boiler systems.
  • Assemble and install high-voltage electrode components, rods and related mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Perform electrical wiring and connection of control panels, power components, motors, sensors and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, bills of materials and technical documentation.
  • Set up and operate specialized and standard testing equipment to evaluate the performance and operation of electrical components and systems.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical testing of equipment before shipment and commissioning.
  • Diagnose electrical, electronic and mechanical problems and perform advanced troubleshooting.
  • Identify the cause of equipment or system failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist with the testing and validation of prototypes, new components and product improvements.
  • Make adjustments to assemblies, electrical systems and components as required to meet engineering and manufacturing specifications.
  • Perform commissioning and start-up activities for medium- and high-voltage boiler equipment.
  • Support field technicians and customers with technical troubleshooting when required.
  • Assist with repairs, modifications and corrective work on existing equipment.
  • Verify that completed equipment meets applicable drawings, specifications, quality requirements and internal procedures.
  • Follow established electrical safety, lockout/tagout and workplace safety procedures.
  • Work closely with engineering personnel on technical issues, product improvements and manufacturing solutions.
  • Prepare or update technical information, testing records and manufacturing documentation as required.
  • Assist in developing and improving assembly, testing and commissioning procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to other technicians when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Perform other related technical duties associated with the high-voltage product line.
